Here are some facts you need to know about prostate cancer:
- Mainly older men and African-American men develop prostate cancer.
- The average age at the time of diagnosis is about 66. 60% of men diagnosed will be over the age of 66
- Prostate cancer may cause no signs or symptoms in its early stages.
- 299, 010 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year.
- 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime and each man’s risk can vary.
- Family History: Having a father or Brother diagnosed with Prostate Cancer more than doubles a man’s risk.
In advanced stages it may cause signs and symptoms listed on the screen:
- Frequent urination
- Weak urine stream
- Pain or blood during urination
Men with any of these symptoms should see their healthcare provider. Other men should ask if prostate cancer screening is right for them.
