Donate Life - Jessica Colon's Story
Recently, my grandmother posted on Facebook. Now, this may seem insignificant simply because my grandmother posts on Facebook all the time. However, this post was different; this post was about the last 10 years of my grandpa’s life. Ten years ago, my grandpa’s liver was failing and without a lifesaving liver transplant, he would not have survived to today. Because of a selfless donation from my uncle, my grandpa got that transplant.
Because of organ donation, my grandpa experienced many blessing he would have otherwise missed, like holding four new grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also celebrated two of his grandchildren’s weddings, including my own, two college and five high school graduations! With my grandma, he was able to celebrate his 40th wedding anniversary and a vow renewal. His story is the reason why I always say yes to organ donation, I do it for the years given to those who need it most.
