Experience the Blessing Difference: Vascular Surgery
When you come to Blessing for vascular surgery, you benefit from:
-
Commitment to excellence: Blessing is a Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, as recognized by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
-
Advanced technology: Depending on your surgery type, you may undergo vascular surgery in our dedicated hybrid operating room. Here, our doctors perform minimally invasive surgical procedures using advanced imaging technology.
-
Minimally invasive procedures: Our team uses minimally invasive surgical techniques when possible. Smaller incisions reduce your risk of infection and scarring and can speed the recovery process. Your doctor will discuss the best surgical option for you.
-
Depth of experience: Our experienced team of vascular experts works together to provide you with exemplary medical care.
-
Care that focuses on you: We treat our patients like family. You will see the same familiar, helpful faces at your appointments and throughout your course of treatment.
-
Recovery program: If your doctor recommends it, you may participate in Blessing’s cardiac rehab program to strengthen your heart and body.
Vascular Surgeries at Blessing
Our surgical team is highly skilled at performing a wide array of vascular surgeries, including:
-
Endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR): Your doctor uses a catheter to place a stent-graft device at the site of the aneurysm. The graft decreases pressure on the aneurysm site.
-
Thrombectomy: Your doctor uses a small device to break up or remove a blood clot or embolism in the arteries.
-
Peripheral balloon angioplasty: Your doctor opens a blocked artery using a small balloon device inserted through a thin tube called a catheter.
-
Artery stenting: Your doctor opens a blocked artery using a tiny, expandable coil or metal mesh.
-
Revascularization procedures: These surgeries include femoral-popliteal bypass surgery to bypass a blockage in a femoral artery and femoral-tibial bypass surgery to bypass a blocked or narrowed artery in the leg.
-
Carotid endarterectomy: During surgery, your doctor removes plaque deposits or clots in the carotid arteries in the neck. These plaques and clots increase your risk of stroke.
-
Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair: This procedure reinforces a weakened or bulging area called an aneurysm in the section of the aorta located in your abdomen. The aorta is your body’s largest artery. Your doctor may use a minimally invasive method involving a thin tube, or catheter, to perform this procedure.
-
Inferior vena cava (IVC) filter: Your doctor inserts a filter into the inferior vena cava, the vein that returns blood to your heart. The filter catches blood clots, lowering your risk of pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lungs).
-
Arteriovenous fistula access for hemodialysis: This procedure helps patients with kidney failure who need dialysis. Your doctor connects an artery to a vein in your upper arm. The increased blood flow enlarges and strengthens the vein so it can better withstand repeated needle insertions.
