What Is Cardiac Rehab?
There are several phases of cardiac rehab, including:
-
Phase 1: Inpatient cardiac rehab
-
Phase 2: Outpatient cardiac rehab
-
Phase 3: Maintenance cardiac rehab
Phase 1: Inpatient cardiac rehab
Your rehabilitation program begins during your recovery from a heart procedure at Blessing. Our specialists will help you sit up, stretch and walk short distances. At discharge, you will receive guidelines for exercises and activities to do at home.
Phase 2: Outpatient cardiac rehab
The Blessing cardiovascular nursing staff runs this 12-week program available from 7am - 2:30pm, comprised of classes offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Tuesday/Thursday by appointment. In addition to physical fitness and strength training sessions, you also can attend educational programs hosted by doctors, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers and other healthcare specialists.
You must have a referral from a doctor to participate in this program. Classes are held at the Blessing Health Center, 927 Broadway, Suite 222. Use the east entrance.
Phase 3: Maintenance cardiac rehab program
With a doctor’s referral, you can continue your physical fitness program as a member of the Blessing Wellness Center. You also may choose to do physical activity at home or at another fitness facility.
At the Blessing Wellness Center, you can self-manage your exercise program while also receiving expert advice from trained exercise and healthcare specialists. Learn more about the Blessing Wellness Center.
