If the origin of the pain is unknown and you are considered at low risk for a cardiac event, you may be sent to our observation decision unit (ODU). Depending on test findings, you may be admitted to the hospital or you may be sent home with instructions to follow up with a heart specialist.

Experience the Blessing Difference: Observation Decision Unit

There are many benefits to receiving care in our observation decision unit (ODU). These benefits include:

  • Advanced medical surveillance: The ODU is a step between emergency room care and being admitted to the hospital. Here, trained heart experts carefully monitor your condition and complete additional testing.

  • Fast diagnosis and treatment: In the ODU, you receive rapid diagnosis and treatment for cardiac conditions that require extended care beyond the emergency department.

  • Access to expert care: You have access to the latest technology found in Blessing’s Emergency Center, which is an American Heart Association Certified Chest Pain Center with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Our specially trained heart team provides continuous cardiac monitoring and rapid treatment of heart events.

  • Care for heart procedures: Patients recovering from certain heart procedures, such as heart catheterizations, also receive care in the ODU.

Location

Our 32-bed ODU is located on the 5th floor of Blessing Hospital.
