Arrhythmia Treatments
Not everyone who has arrhythmia requires treatment. If your doctor recommends treatment, you have several options at Blessing.
Arrhythmia treatment options at Blessing include:
-
Ablation: Your doctor uses radiofrequency energy (heat) or cryogenics (extreme cold) to treat a small amount of heart tissue responsible for causing irregular or rapid heartbeats.
-
Pacemakers or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD): These small, implantable devices deliver an electrical signal to your heart to help it maintain a healthy rhythm.
-
Our doctors use MRI-compatible devices. You can safely undergo MRI scans without damaging the device or your heart.
-
We also perform lead extractions to remove pacemaker leads (wires) that malfunction or experience a problem, such as blockage, scar tissue buildup or infection.
-
-
Electrical cardioversion: Your doctor carefully administers electrical signals to your heart to restore a normal rhythm.
-
Medications: Antiarrhythmic (or heart rhythm control) medication can help restore a normal heartbeat. If you have atrial fibrillation (AFib), you may also need blood thinners to prevent stroke-causing blood clots.
